Bad, Bad Mommy!

If yesterday's agenda was supposed to look something like this...

7:30 AM: Forget, for the first time in over a year, to lock door behind husband.
7:45 AM: Leave kids playing and watching TV and go about business of checking email and cleaning kitchen.
8:00 AM: Notice Rosemary's Baby isn't where I left him. Start looking.
8:01 AM: Simultaneously realize with horror that the door was left unlocked, and notice car pulling into driveway.
8:02AM: Retrieve Rosemary's baby from friendly, understanding neighbour who was passing and found him at the end of the driveway, looking to cross the highway.
Rest of Day: Live in the disturbing and humiliating knowledge that I am the worst mother on the planet.

...then, mission accomplished!

I'm starting today with a clean slate. Right after I lock all the doors...

Just sounds like you're like the rest of us. You have so much going on, it's hard to keep track of everything. I forget things all the time. I've gotten to where I do a run-through of the house before I leave.

I love your blog! I too have 2 kids (boys 4 & 6 months) 2 dogs (Chocolate Lab & Cocker Spaniel) only 1 car but my husband works on a mine here in Western Australia so I am on my own 2 out of every 3 weeks so know how hard it can be being the only parent the majority of the time! I look forward to reading more!

I know how you feel. Back when my son was 1 1/2, I was working nights. His father was "watching" him.

I woke up to banging on my front door, the father asleep, and a cop standing on my porch with my son!

He had been in the middle of the road!!!

Real vs Fake

The Captain has only been gone 2 weeks. Already I've committed the ultimate marital sin. You hear stories about the things wives get up to while the husbands are serving overseas. The wife who moves a new guy in the minute her husband's gone. The wife who clears out the bank account and does a runner. The one who takes all his extra tour money and spends it on new shoes. I never thought I'd become one of those nuts who does something crazy while he's away. But I have. Yesterday, I bought one of these: Okay, fine. The Luck Of The Irish

As far as I know, I do not even have 1% Irish in me. The last time I looked into it, I found that I was 99.9% English with, I think, a tiny smidge of Scottish if you go back far enough. This, however, does not stop me from going hog wild on St Patrick's Day. I already have the beef marinating for my Steak and Guinness Pie tomorrow. This year, it seems I've cashed in all those lucky four-leafed clovers I found out back as a kid. In just over a year, I have won no less than FOUR blog giveaways! Blogging is turning out to be better than the lottery! Two of those giveaways I won this month within a week of each other.
