Hot Glue Friday: Halloween!

Do you get the idea that maybe I'm not the kind of blogger who can start a thing and actually stick with it?

Here are some crafts that should've made it into several Hot Glue Friday posts but instead are all lumped in together today because I found 5 minutes to spare. Perhaps from now on I should share this stuff, regardless of what day of the week it is, and just call it a "craft post"!

Up first, we have my fall wreath, made entirely out things from my mother's basement. Thanks, Mum!


And this is the wreath I have on my door at present. Once again, just about everything on it was obtained when my parents came out to visit in August and brought me half the contents of my mum's craft room. The base for this wreath was a canning rack my canning-free mother mysteriously had lying around for no good reason, still wrapped in plastic. I'm starting to see where I get my crazy shopping habits.



Despite growing enough pumpkins this summer to elicit numerous comments from people every time I went to town to fetch my mail, I had no energy for carving this year. So the boys and I fiddled around with a hot glue gun and some bits and pieces from around the house to come up with these guys. They remind me a lot of the little old men who used to hang around in front of McD's at 4:45 AM, way back when I worked there, waiting for the place to open.



These are my spider earrings. I bought a bag of plastic spiders at the dollar store (which means I have enough left to make earrings for about 200 of my closest friends), used a thumb tack to poke a hole in the bottom end of each, and then trimmed down two eye pins, jammed them in the holes, and attached them to ear wires. And yes, that is snow fence stapled up to the outside of my bedroom window. Let's just say that RB has been at it again and leave it at that, shall we?

Happy Halloween, everyone! I'm trying out a brain-shaped jello mold this weekend, so obviously my next post should be pretty thrilling...

I like all your crafts, but especially the Frankenstein wreath! And those bumpy, gnarly pumpkins are cute too -- the baseball hats are the finishing touch!

Just when I decide you are gone for good you slip back around and let us all know you are still with us! We miss you, you know! Cute projects...I especially like the pumpkins! No spider earrings for this old broad! I almost thought they were real spiders! Don't stay away so long! More pictures of the boys please!

I never have the time or energy to carve pumpkins...the boys will do it tomorrow while I'm out running the world.

This Post Brought To You In 1-Minute Increments

Still alive out here in the middle of nowhere! I've had some time-management issues this month that have made blogging and commenting near-impossible. The Captain has been away and Rosemary's Baby's tutor had to take a 3-week sick leave. Living where we do, there's no one to take over when our tutor gets sick. The major lesson I've learned from this is that MY KID NEEDS HIS THERAPY! Holy cow, he's been a little terror! I literally cannot spend more than one minute at a time on the computer or I go back upstairs to find the little monkey either raiding the cupboards and fridge of things he shouldn't have, or in the garage, trying desperately to figure out how to back the car out of the driveway for a joyride. He's suddenly napping at weird hours and appearing in my room expecting breakfast at 3AM. No-therapy-RB is killing me! Obama in Ottawa

Last night, we fought some crazy traffic and squeezed into the tiniest seats I've ever seen for a chance to hear Barack Obama speak. As you can see, we weren't wealthy enough to afford the good seats up front. Luckily, we had an excellent view of the Jumbotron! Let it never be said that Major Dad and I have the skills to take a good selfie... Those seats were seriously so tiny, the only thing that stopped me from getting up taking a walk to ease my back pain was the knowledge that the drop was so steep, jumping up might cause me to topple right off the balcony and be tackled by Obama's Secret Service detail. This is assuming I survived the fall. I truly don't know how Senators fans do it. It was a fun (and incredibly expensive) evening. Obama is a smart and interesting man.
