Even 6 Year-Olds are Jumping on the Bandwagon

Today I got the scare of my life.

The Captain has just bought himself a new guitar, so when it arrived this morning, he got busy checking it out, while Firstborn made use of the giant box it came in. Before long, I was in front of the bathroom mirror counting grey hairs and I heard Firstborn say, to no one in particular, "Where's Doggie? I want him in my coffin with me."

WHAT?!!

I came rushing out of the bathroom to find my child laying funeral-style in his new box. I stood there aghast, half of my brain trying to compute the cost of a child psychiatrist, and the other half trying to recall some sign in Firstborn's recent history that he was suicidal, homicidal or otherwise demented. Finally, I found my voice.

"Buddy, get out of that box."

"Why? Look, it's a coffin! I even have a pillow!"

"Okay, you can't pretend to lay in a coffin. It's MORBID!"

"What's morbid?"

"Deathly and depressing. Now get out of there! Quit pretending to be dead!"

"I'm not dead, I just sleep here."

And it was at this point that I saw the first-grade printing on one of the box flaps. "Warning: Do Not Touch. Vampire Coffin!"

So that's why he kept trying to bite my neck. Whew! Dodged a bullet there!

Hang in there kid, it only gets better! This stage is wonderful, before long he will be 11 or 12 and completely mortified to be seen with you and will be rolling his eyes ... thinking how stupid you are ...and this is the stage where you really have to dodge bullets! When they hit somewhere around 20 or 21....then suddenly you make a little sense to them again. Good luck to you and your Captain....Its a long haul for the both of you. But there is a lot of fun along the way....raising kids is an amazing thing!
HAHA I was going to say he must have vampire aspirations!
Don't forget to stock up on garlic...to keep the vampires away! LOL. Too funny. Jude

The girls are always claiming someone is dead. Usually me..and then they have to go live with Batman and be super heros with Batgirl and Wonder Woman.

Wel, hell how can I compete with boots like those?

Hi Wendy!! I DID change my blog background... Just recently so don't feel bad! Hope all is going well with the Captain at home!!
How's the weather your way!!?
Hmmmm! My children never wanted to be vampires when they were growing up. My, my, how times have changed.

And yes, Glen Campbell is still alive. AND he's a born again Christian -- given up his wayward wicked ways!! But he does look like he's lived a hard life, poor dear!
